Structure of the Great 2 Run Programme
The Great 2 Run Programme is delivered via a Training Zone and a Learning Zone. The Training Zone fully engages learners in physical activity as part of their learning, something which is unique to Great 2 Run.
The Learning Zone is structured into 10 sessions, which interact with the Training Zone.
The course will take learners through:
- The Great Outdoors - how to plan and measure routes to maximise your training
- Injury Prevention - how to recognise, treat and avoid common running injuries
- Body Systems - basic anatomy and physiology
- The Body in Sport - the bio-mechanics of movement
- Water works - the importance of adequate hydration - when and what to drink
- The Good Food Guide - a simple, no-nonsense guide to fuelling your training programme
- Physical Fitness - looking at fitness as an overall concept
- Cross Training - how to achieve ‘all round’ fitness in a well-rounded exercise programme
- Mind Games - consideration of aspects of motivation and adherence to exercise
- Preparing for your event - words of advice from the Great North team on how to maximise enjoyment of your event.
